Kenneth Young interview: Post-war career

I went back to Rockware Glass after the war and remained there until I retired in 1979. By that time they had moved from Greenford to Windsor during my last few months there. I was Group Secretary in the Rockware Group and Director of Rockware Glass Ltd. The company had expanded with factories all over the country. They made 6 million bottles a day, 364 days a year. It was the second biggest glass company in the UK. I would drive to work at Greenford. After the war I was given enough petrol to commute two days a week and the rest of the time I would take the train via Earl’s Court. I got a company car after rationing ended. Then I would drive from Merton Park to Greenford through Richmond Park and it would take 25 minutes. By the time I retired it was taking over an hour.
