JACK SWAAB has lived in Wimbledon since moving into a new cottage in 1948 built on the site of a bombed out coach-house. His life story is colourful to say the least. A one-time company director and world traveller, his career took him from journalism to advertising, book-selling and dispensing racing tips, not to mention six distinguished years as a gunner officer with the 51st Highland Division. His family proved an unexpected bonus. At the age of 94, he has written his autobiography, 'Slouching in the Undergrowth', the tale of an urbane and accomplished raconteur.
